Our History

Murray Percival Company HQOur company was founded on January 4th, 1960, and subsequently incorporated in the state of Michigan as the Murray A. Percival Company. Shortly thereafter, Murray was approached by the Electrovert Corporation, a company we still represent today, to sell their printed circuit board wave soldering equipment. At that time, the use of PCBs was still relatively rare, and the foresight to enter this business was not without risk: the industry had yet to emerge. Today of course, circuit boards are crucial components of our everyday life, used in automobiles, medical equipment, military equipment, avionics, communications, computers, appliances and entertainment products. Electronics are ubiquitous, increasingly mobile and growing every day.

50 years ago, Murray was a pioneer servicing an emerging industry, one that has become a key component in the worldwide market of today's manufactured goods. The Murray Percival Company is now a leading supplier to the Midwest's electronics industry and offers literally thousands of products...many of which can be purchased simply and directly from this website.

Our Philosophy

The Murray Percival Company was built on Murray Sr's strong foundation of honesty, integrity, loyalty and just plain doing what's right. His goal in business was not only to provide for his family, but to be a provider to his employees and their families as well. He often said that their families were his families and it was important to him that they were given a chance to grow along with the company. Growth not just measured financially but morally and spiritually as well.

The company is today managed by Murray's three children, Murray Jr., Mark and Pam. And now representing a third generation are Murray III and Matt. The philosophy is significant: family-owned businesses represent 29% of the US GDP and 78% of new job creation. Today, as a third-generation family-owned business, the company has evolved from hardware provider to Process Enabler, delivering to our customers and utilizing ourselves the most modern tools and processes.

Anyone can offer products, but few provide measurable results that positively affect their customers' bottom line. We strive to carry on that philosophy, taking care of our family, our employees and their families and our ever-growing family of satisfied customers. The same philosophy that built our company in 1960 is still present today.

People That Care

Murray A. Percival Jr.

President / CEO

As his name suggests, Murray is responsible for leading, managing and supporting our company and its employees. On top of this, Murray also oversees strategic planning and sales management. It's a tall order but his extensive expertise and experience ensure we remain the competitive company you trust to keep you profitable.

Having began his career here over three decades ago as Stockroom Manager, Murray's knowledge of our business, our industries and our customers is vast! Now in the top job, Murray's role is extremely diverse, involving supporting our customers by building mutually beneficial relationships with many of the top equipment and material suppliers. His expertise also helps maintain a first class, highly trained and technically experienced sales force.

Continuing the pioneering business model of his father, Murray has fostered the rich culture and 'do the right thing' philosophy which underpins the way we work. Murray cites the many acquaintances he's made within the industry as his career highlights, while the addition to the company of Murray III and Matthew – two of Murray Sr's six grandchildren – is the 'icing on the cake'.

Looking ahead, Murray's aspirations remain consistent; to develop the company to meet the evolving needs of our customers, to mentor our third generation partners and provide an opportunity to make a good living for all of our GREAT associates and their families. You might think that running our business is challenge enough, but Murray is also a keen hockey player who enjoys boating, reading, ice fishing and gardening.

Today, Mark is happy that the work we do allows our customers to build and service a multitude of products that make the world safer, more comfortable and enjoyable.

Enhanced Vendor Partnership

Managing MRO materials is disproportionately complex and costly

Many steps must occur efficiently and accurately when sourcing and managing MRO materials. It often involves resources from several departments including the CEO, President and sometimes even the owner. This is one reason why unnecessary emergencies frequently arise.

Have you reviewed the many steps required in your process?

  • New requirements arise from a new process or customer order
  • Material specifications must be reviewed and researched to determine what type of material is needed
  • A search for the material is required to locate suppliers and determine price and availability
  • Suppliers must now be added to the ERP system
  • Orders must be placed (along with hundreds of others each month)
  • Materials are then shipped and received
  • Careful attention must be paid to ensure that the material is marked correctly and has adequate shelf life
  • Material is entered into the stock area for storage
  • Material must be tracked during use and purchasing notified when low stock levels occur
  • And THEN the cycle begins all over again

Poorly managing MRO materials exposes your business to risks

These procedures rarely run as planned especially because MRO items are not normally listed on the original Bill of Materials, nor managed by one individual. These items are the first to run out or expire causing one fire drill after another. Consider just a few of the associated issues and costs.

  • A highly compensated process engineer must spend valuable time researching and selecting materials and vendors
  • Opportunities are missed when the company is unaware of new materials and process improvements
  • Setting up new suppliers is time consuming, costly and redundant
  • Supporting numerous vendors, PO’s, shipments, invoices and payments is costly
  • Short shelf life promotes added scrap and waste
  • Complicated logistics moving materials between receiving, warehouse and production leads to over stocking, shortgages and out of date materials
  • Line-down work stoppages are intolerable
  • Jobs are delayed or short shipped; increasing WIP, lowering margins, and angering customers

EVP: Enhanced Vendor Partnership

The MP Company has identified a group of select customers with whom we have a relationship and who we believe are prime candidates for this special partnership. A comprehensive range of services is available which can eliminate MRO issues and positively affect your bottom line. The package includes the following:
